Unable to escape from Derren Brown

By Gay, TV, Online Streaming & FilmsNo Comments

A few weeks ago it seemed like I was unable to escape from Derren Brown. He was on Channel 4 and I was facinated by his show which included an audience of both celebs and ordinary people from a variety of backgrounds. Since he has predicted correctly the lotto numbers.

I heard his prediction in the news (see Telegraph, Daily Mail) he had correctly predicted the correct lotto numbers. I was suitably impressed to say the least. But then I read the story on Pink News and was shocked to learn that Derren is gay. He apparently came out two years ago, I had no idea.

See gay people are everywere. In every job, role and part of society.

They say the statistic is 1 in 10 people are gay, lesbian or bisexual. I think it’s probably much higher. What do you think? Leave a comment.

Inspired by Stephen Fry

By InspirationNo Comments

I recently read Stephen Fry’s blog entry – Emergining into the Light. I have been inspired at his description of his writing process. As a wannabe writer I love hearing how other people write. For example Cecelia Ahern starts late in the evening and writes till the early hours. Sometimes the sun is coming up when she goes to bed.

Unfortuately, I don’t get to write as often as I would like (apart from this blog of course). But it is on my Magickal Grand Plan, under creativity to write a fiction book. So I guess I need to get my ass in gear and get writing.

Update you soon,

Out of Ink

By Friends & Family, Love & RelationshipsOne Comment

During the day before we went watching District 9 (see District 9 Film Review). GJ and I had gone shopping for a new printer he needed. At the till he was asked: “Would you like to buy any ink cartridges?” To which I answered:
“No, it comes with them.”
(Obiously thinking that he could get the cartidges cheaper than the £18 they were in the shop, trying to save him money!)
“They are only starter ones. They only do about 50 pages.”
“We’ll be fine.” I answered for him again.
(Goddess, I’m quite very bad at that at times, when I think I’m right!)

So I had grand plans the other night: Jaquizi bath, a good meal and chill. Then GJ texted me, stating his printer had run out of ink! I felt really bad, so offered to pick him up and take him back to mine to complete the printing for him. He kept saying it wasn’t my fault but I felt guilty. He needed the work the following morning and it was too late for him to go anywhere and buy any.

I scoffed a quick tea down and picked him up. It was lovely to see him. I don’t quite know why, but I have a lot of positive regard for him. We have previously been out (see An update on men and Men, he was called the friendly ex in these posts). I guess I still have some feelings for him, especially after our recent conversation (see District 9 Film Review).

My love life seems to be getting more and more confusing and more and more complicated. Yet, I have had the honest conversation about staying friends with them both. What’s going on?

Blog soon (hopefully less confused),

Youtube Homophobia

By The WebNo Comments

Over a year ago, I posted this video to Youtube:

Then about a week ago, I received an email stating I had comments on the video. I logged on and saw:

It was a reminder that homophobia still exsists in this hertrosexual world.

How would this person react if they met me face to face? Would they hide their homophobia or be verbally and physically abusive? I guess for them it would depend on the setting. I would react in the same way regardless of the setting, I would challenge their homophobia providing it was safe to do so.

My response to him: Yeah, I’m gay, and?

If I were him I would be concerned as to why he was on a video authored by a gay man? Perhaps some internalised homophobia towards himself?

Get a life! I shall be challenging this through Youtube. Not so much for me, but for any gay person that has ever experienced homophobia. If it’s not challenged, it will only continue.

Let you know how I get on with Youtube,

Antony x
