The Alcohol Therapy Workbook

The Alcohol Therapy Handbook has been designed for anyone struggling with alcohol use or who has struggled in the past.

It is written in a Motivational Interviewing style, one of the key therapies used to support people with alcohol issues. It has been designed using a trauma-informed approach and is strength–based.

What you will find in this book is more than just worksheets about alcohol. You’ll find all the tools someone needs to get into recovery from alcohol and stay there. It’s a therapy-based book, not an alcohol-based book.

Some of its content includes: alcohol education, your life story, your traumas, what you can control, assertiveness and boundaries, life purposes, goal setting, self-care, self-awareness, strengths, your support networks, healthy and unhealthy relationships, work around core beliefs and irrational beliefs, emotions (including how to deal with difficult emotions), coping strategies, building confidence and self-esteem and maintaining motivation.

Reviews

The book is fantastic for anyone who has a problem with alcohol. It is written in a style which is easy to understand and is set out in a fantastic chronological order. The value of the author with extensive experience of working in a hospital environment helps an individual to deal with any challenges that they may face when trying to make changes and or stop using alcohol. If you are unsure where to start this book will set you on the right track. This is one of the best self help books I have ever read. It makes a treatment journey seem more achievable. This can be used in conjunction with any other treatment programme to help support change.
