My Travels: India – The Adventure of a Lifetime

Today, right at this moment, I’m on a flight for the adventure and experience of a lifetime in India.

So how did this happen? Well…before I start, let me just say something about being a Writer.

Sometimes you write something, for yourself because you feel it needs to be written and put it out there expecting no sort of reaction from anyone who happens to read it. But then, for some bizarre reason, people connect to what you’ve wrote and like and comment on it. This was what happened when I wrote my recovery from depression blog post.

A good friend, who I haven’t seen or really spoken to for a number of years was among the commenters on my recovery from depression. We got talking and he very kindly invited me to India to share in his happiness; as he’s going to India to marry his gorgeous and wonderful fiancée.

I’m going for a week and will get to experience an Indian Wedding, see what life is like for Indian’s in New Delhi and finishing off with a visit the Taj Mahal.

I’ve been really excited since I booked the flights. It will be immense. There’s been so much to sort that I wrote a list:
Tick Box Bullet Point Immunisations
Tick Box Bullet Point Tourist Visa
Tick Box Bullet Point Flights
Tick Box Bullet Point Megabus down to London
Tick Box Bullet Point Travel from Victoria Coach Station, London to Heathrow Airport.
Tick Box Bullet Point Travel Insurance
Tick Box Bullet Point Medication Letter
Tick Box Bullet Point Borrow a Suitcase
Tick Box Bullet Point New Clothes:

Some New T-Shirts

new-clothes-for-india-1

New Vests 1

new-clothes-for-india-2

New Vests 2

new-clothes-for-india-3

New clothes: T-shirt and Shorts

Now that everything has been sorted and I’m off on the flight, all that’s left is to enjoy and take plenty of photos. I’ll write all about India when I return.

Write soon,

Antony

Film Review: Jurassic World – Fantastic, Epic and This Year’s Absolute Must See

Jurassic World is fantastic, epic and this year’s absolute must see.

Jurassic World is set in the near future, a zoo/theme park has been set up on the original Jurassic Park Island with real dinosaurs.

Claire Dearing (played by Bryce Dallas Howard) is the Operational Manager, responsible for the over twenty thousands guests in the park at any one time.

Her nephews Zach and Gray Mitchell are coming to the park to experience it and spend some time with their aunt. But she’s too busy and instead arranges for her assistant to take care of them.

Then a new dinosaur created by merging the DNA of two species, named the Indominus escapes from its enclosure. The Indominus is bigger than the T-Rex and scarier than the Velociraptors. It was created by Dr. Henry Wu and was intended to be the next new attraction.

Owen Grady (played by Chris Pratt) is a Animal Behaviourist and general hero hot guy. When Claire’s nephews disappear after the Indominus escapes, she enlists his help to find her nephews and to try to save the other guests in the park.

The plot was captivating, imaginative and followed a similar formula of the original Jurassic Park. All of which worked well. The plot left an opening for a further film. Personally, I hope they do another trilogy, especially if they are all up to the same standard as this one. The directing was good and effects were superb. The length of the film was perfect.

I didn’t mind the Coca-Cola product placement, Owen is working on his bike and takes a refreshing gulp of Coca-Cola. I did mind the Starbucks product placement. Claire is in the control centre, asking about visitor numbers and then the camera cuts to her and suddenly, out of no where, she has a Starbucks cup in her hand. From what I could see there wasn’t even a Starbucks store on the island.

I liked the little nods to the original Jurassic Park film including a statue of Richard Attenborough in one of the buildings.

I never, ever expected to write this, and I warn you that what I am about to write is controversial and only my opinion. But in my opinion Jurassic World was better than the original Jurassic Park.

I’ve already pre-ordered my Jurassic World DVD, which is released on 19th October 2015.

Review soon,

Antony

A Celebration of Love: Mum & Ian’s Wedding

Ian & Mum, with the Bagpiper playing in the background.

On Wednesday 1st July 2015, during the hottest afternoon of the year, Mum & Ian celebrated their love for one another by getting Wed. I’ve never seen my mum so full of excitement, she was like a child on christmas day. She looked exceptionally divine.

Even notoriously grumpy Ian, smiled and laughed often.

Mum and Ian were both lit up with happiness and radiated joy. I have never seen either of them so ecstatic. I was lovely and I felt honoured to see it and share the day with them.

As the Best Man, I had come up with the idea for the fishing trip stag do. But my role on the day was to get the men dressed in full traditional Scottish dress – including kilt and sporran. I think looking at the photos below, I did a pretty good job.

As Son of the Bride (I’m not sure if this is an official wedding role, but if it isn’t, it should be), I spent my time greeting, getting and entertaining.

Being so busy doing these two roles, I didn’t get time to take many photos. I was too busy being in them! But here’s a few photos I’ve managed to get hold of from other people:

After the ceremony, we all went back to Mum & Ian’s for a barbecue that went on late into the evening. This was followed up on the Friday by a much bigger party. It was a joint celebration of Mum and Ian’s Wedding and Mum’s Fiftieth Birthday (which had been on the same day that they had got married on).

I had a great time and wish them many, many more happy, joyful and exciting times ahead.

My Brother, Me and My Nephew

On a glorious summer’s day, my brother, my nephew and I decided to go for drinks and dinner. We caught up, exchanged views on all manor of topics and talked about the future.

You can’t beat those wonderful and spontaneous good times. With life being so busy they can be rare, but that just makes you appreciate them more.

I appreciate everyone in my life – my family and my friends and I love spending time with them all.

Take care,

Antony
