Pagan Festivals

By Amazon, Life, PaganismNo Comments

This year being disorganised I missed Imbolc. I only realised a day before and hence didn’t really get round to doing anything (I know tut, tut).

So in order that I not miss any further of my pagan festivals I decided to add the dates to my diary and post them here. I will give the festival name, date and some information about the festival. Here we go:

Imbolc – 2nd February

Known as the festival of light. It celebrates the end of dark winter and welcomes the sun and the light to the world. Asking the world to wake up out of hibernation.

The goddess is seen as the maiden at this festival. Indeed the festival celebrates her as a maiden. She is still in recovery from child-birth.

Colours: White, yellow & gold.

Themes: Fire, creativity, poetry, inspiration, light, healing.

The god matures and becomes a man. He will live and rule until Samhain.

Litha – 20th June

The longest day of the year. It is the summer time harvest. I like this blessing:

As the sun spirals its longest dance,
Cleanse us
As nature shows bounty and fertility
Bless us
Let all things live with loving intent
And to fulfil their truest destiny

Personal Beliefs

God and Goddess

Many pagans believe in a god and a goddess. I differ slightly. I do believe there is a god-like being, but that it is one that is genderless as it is simply energy. Some pagans would disagree with this, although like I said earlier these are my own individual beliefs.

With thanks

With thanks to my friend Sye, who helped explain the goddess’ birth of the god and place it in the right festival. He used Scott Cunningham’s, Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner.

Ups and Downs

By Friends & Family, Health, Life, Love & Relationships, Paganism, Shopping, Technology, Thinking2 Comments

The weekend started really on Saturday. David and I had arranged to have a chat following the weekend prior (see Job Interview & David).

I had picked up my new BlackBerry Storm (see The phone we forgot) prior to setting out to drive to his, an Up. The Down about this was that as I had choose to keep my existing mobile number I had to wait for the PAC to transfer over, so the handset was unusable for 72 hours.

David jumped in the car to help me find parking. Once we had found it, we had to stay with the car until we were allowed to legally park there. David was initially closed. I had come open minded, but still with the one thought: that I am fed up arguing.

But what I didn’t count on was how I’d react and connect to David’s addictive energy once again. We ended up going out shopping (bought this fantastic t-shirt, I will have to post a pic!) and for a meal in the evening. The day and evening was amazing (Up), but somehow we didn’t manage to discuss the argument (a definite Down).

Sunday I head back home. I had promised my friend a reiki session (see Reiki one – Qualified) and had to prepare. I had a bath were I cleansed, protected and grounded my energies. I put some reiki healing energy in to some candles and collected my oils, the burner, the reiki-ed candles, crystals, etc. together.

The great thing about a reiki session is that you as the practitioner also get a reiki treatment too, so add that to the reiki I had done in the bath (cleansing, protecting & grounding) and I had a total of 2 reiki treatments. A definite Up.

Reiki is a stress-relief energy treatment. For more about how to destress please see my Relaxation post.

I would like to thank my friend for allowing me to give him some reiki treatment and for the nice food he bought me afterwards. Food is always a Up.

So that was my weekend, definitely more Ups than Downs!

Publish more soon,

Antony

The Weird Dream

By Life, Paganism, ThinkingNo Comments

In the last week I haven’t slept well as you may know (see The Week of Recovery if you don’t).

But on one occasion when I did sleep during the week, I had the weirdest dream:

First there was some sort of battle going on, with a struggle and I was trying to save someone.

Then I suddenly appeared at the side door of a building and saw a wiseman who I recognised. I wanted to ask him how the struggle went, what happened, and if I saved the person I was trying too.

A brown, old fashioned leather suitcase appeared in my hand. The wise man ignored me and started to walk away. I decided to follow him. He stopped and looked at this side door. By his look I assumed he wanted me to go through it. But when I looked at the door the shutter was down. Knowing that it was the side door, I decided to walk round to the front main entrance.

The wise man, looked at the door and the shutter opened. The wise man walked through and I followed. I asked “where do I go now?” He walked towards an escalator and I followed. I realised it was a dream and woke (or at least I thought).

I was in my room with stuff all over the floor (which is typical of my room, I am not the domestic goddess I would like to be). I felt very restricted with what I was wearing. I stood up out of my bed and unzipped and took off the tightest body-warmer ever. Underneath it was another one so I did the same with other body-warmer. I felt restricted wearing them and very warm.

I decided I needed some water. I went over to my desk and picked up a glass hexagon in shape with water in and took a sip. I went to put the glass down but it would not stand with out spilling the water.

Next to my desk I saw a bucket about half filled with water. I poured the water out of the glass in to the bucket on the floor. Then the bucket started to leak all over the floor. I remember feeling panicked about the water all over the floor.

I then realised I was in another dream and woke myself up.

Weird, eh? If any of you are good at dream interpretation please leave a comment with some interpretational stuff.

Thanks & Good Night,

Antony

More people practicing The Craft

By Life, Money / Finances, Music & Radio, Paganism, ThinkingNo Comments

As 2009 approaches (ok well it’s upon us but I’m a little behind), more people are turning to The Craft (witchcraft) to rid their woes of 2008.

I was listening to the Radio, the presenter was advising people to write down their concerns and shred them using a shredder. The majority of people calling in to the show where planning to write on their paper about financial concerns (i.e. credit card bills, other bills, etc.) due to the current global economic crisis.

As I drove I smiled to myself, knowing that this is a form on magick.
Thought & Intention – Writing on the paper & the physical act of shreding.
The energy – Created through the slicing of the shredder.

If there are things you wish to rid yourself off in 2009, I would recommend this method. But I would suggest you balance it with some positive intentions of things you wish to bring in to your life.

Blessed Be,

Antony
