My Blog Stats for 2017

By The WebNo Comments

Here are my blog stats for 2017:

my-blog-stats-2017

Lets have a look on how they compare against My Blog Stats for 2016. The number of blog posts was 71 in 2017 and 82 in 2016, meaning a decrease of 11 posts. However the number of comments have increased by 23 comments, with 58 comments made in 2017 versus 35 comments made in 2016.

In 2016 my blog had 1, 811, 905 hits. I don’t have data for 2017 due to switching hosting providers partway through the year. However the number of unique visitors in 2017 increased by 8,863 (35, 363 in 2017 versus 26, 500 in 2016).

The top referrer in both 2016 and 2017 was search engines. However in 2017 StumbleUpon past Facebook. Android-app remained in fourth place in 2017 as it was in 2016.

Twitter dropped off the Top Referrers list in 2017, which was disappointing as I increased tagging of relevant users, used hashtags better and tried to engage more with people on Twitter. But it was replaced with PLU Blogs which I listed my blog on as a bit of an experiment. It was also replaced by Pinterest another site that I had experimented with in 2017.

My Top Clicks for 2016 and 2017 remained the same with GuysWay first and Amazon second. However in 2017 I was glad to see Odd Prints getting some traffic from this post I wrote back in 2014: OddPrints – Print Photos in Any Size (including 3×3 & 4×4).

Fourth and Fifth on My Top Clicks relate to this blog post I wrote in 2016: A List of Famous People with Dyspraxia, Dyslexia and/or Dyscalculia. According to the stats this blog post has been popular throughout 2016 and 2017.

The sixth on My Top Clicks for 2017 was Male Massage Manchester and relates to this blog post: Review: A Marvellous Massage by a Masseur found using GuysWay.

This year (2018!) I would like to exceed the number of posts written in 2017. I’d like the comments to remain high, as well as the hits and unique visitors to continue to increase.

Write soon,

Antony

I’ve really grown my blog in the last few years, with Reviews of books, films and technology seeming to make the big difference to increasing the number of visitors. But what keeps my visitors returning seems to be blogging about my personal life. Below is the result of a readers survey undertaken in 2014. It that shows that readers enjoy the current content I create and would like more of everything. It shows that 80% of readers surveyed said that they would like more personal blog posts:

Readers were asked: What sort of blog posts would you like to see more of?

I think these statistics are great. In the next year and beyond I hope to continue to grow my loyal blog readership.

The blog costs money to host and takes up a considerable chunk of my time. So if you have a product or service that you’d like to advertise on the blog, please don’t hesitate to Contact me. Your advert could reach 20,000+ unique visitors a year.

Blog soon,

Antony

All Writing And No Play

Christmas Mind Map

It all started with an idea I had for a Christmas themed short story. One I intended to share with you, dear readers. I hoped to start the tradition, releasing a short story every Christmas. A present to you all. But then I saw a call for submissions and decided to use the story I’d started writing. I had to finish writing it, edit it, cut it down and finally un-Christmas it, but got it submitted.

Then I was invited to submit a short story for an anthropology, that I didn’t want to say no to. I also found two other anthropology competitions that I want to enter. This means a lot of my free time is being spent writing at the moment. I have deadlines till June. I hope to have a new short story to share with you later on in the year. When you make submissions, you can’t share the story anywhere, well not until Editors have decided that they don’t want it.

On top of these short stories, I’ve started the Advanced Creative Writing Course at Runshaw College and continue to write for The Gay UK, both adding additional pressure to my free time. You can read my published articles on professional portfolio.

Recently my blog has consisted of mostly book reviews. Don’t think that I’m slowly turning it into a reviewing site. My blog has always been a place to express myself and share events of my life through words and photos. This shall continue, I just have been expressing myself in short story form and haven’t done anything, apart from write, to share.

Despite my lack of personal posts my blog continues to grow. I’ve had 20,000 unique visitors in less than 17 months:

I’m not sure that the WordPress plugin Jetpack is capturing all of the visitors though; as I also use another stats software that reports the numbers of visitors being higher.

Sye & Me at Barry Humphries Show

There has been some fun. Sye and I went to see Barry Humphries: The Eat, Pray and Laugh Farewell Tour.

I’m continuing one of my favourite pastimes, reading. I’m currently reading: Plague by Michael Grant, The Magician’s Assistant by Ann Patchett, The Awakening by Yvonne Heidt, World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks and am about to start Best Gay Romance 2014 Edited By Lambert & Cochrane.

My birthday is coming up and I intend on doing something to celebrate, I’m just not sure as to what yet.

Blog soon,

Antony
