An update on Men

By Health, Love & Relationships2 Comments

Recently I posted about the Men in my life right now (see Men). Well everyone the plot thickens, so here’s a quick update:

1. The date? – He canceled as was unwell. He did sound ill when he rang me to be honest and I didn’t want to particularly catch what ever it was he had. However he’s been quiet on the text. I have even texted him asking him if he would like to rearrange our brunch date. No response. Guess he has lost his bottle or his interest in me or both.

2. The friendly ex – I have had to reinforce my I-just-want-friendship feelings to him recently. He is going a way on Hols soon, I hope he has a really good time.

3. David – I guess my recent blog post entitled Control didn’t help in terms of him wanting to talk to me. He’s still not answering my calls. It’s worse than before as he doesn’t just let his phone ring off he actually presses the ignore button after which the automated womans voice says “The user is busy. Please try again later.” Don’t you just hate that?

4. A friend with benefits – A new comer on the man front. He is an old friend who used to be a friend with benefits (I think that clearly explains it?) from well before I met David. I always wanted to date him and perhaps if dating worked out start a proper relationship. But he didn’t. He’s apparently seen my status on Facebook and decided to get in touch. I have arranged a meal with him on a date next week, so I’ll keep you informed.

In other news – I am not at all well. I have not slept well and when I have I have disturbing nightmares, I’m feeling tired all the time, by blood sugars are messed up and I’m sure I’ve got some infection or other. My nose is like a tap and I have a terrible cough, sore throat – basically I’m falling to pieces.

Blog when feeling better,

Antony

Another breech of our privacy?

By Technology2 Comments

I recently recieved an email about a new service that will give out your mobile number to people, after checking it’s ok to do with you supposedly.

The company behind the 118 800 service, Connectivity, has bought 15m numbers from list brokers, market researchers and online businesses that store personal details, amounting to 40% of those in regular use in the UK.

It seems these days you can’t have any privacy. Apparently the service crashed when thousands of people went to their website to protect their privacy and register themselves as ex-directory:

Controversial new mobile phone directory service 118800.co.uk has crashed, after thousands of users flocked online to remove their numbers from the site, according to reports.

The site, which launched last month, now displays holding page which reads “service suspended while we make improvements”.

What is most annoying is:

However, UK data protection watchdog the Information Commissioner’s office has given a green light to the service..

They are giving away our privacy without consultation to the highest bidder. I come home on a rare evening off an feel invaded by sales calls in my own home to the land line. I am ex-directory, but the meaning of that term seems to have changed. Does anybody remember a time when ex-directory, really mean’t ex-directory?

What do you think about this service and our privacy?

Sunday Morning Cartoons

By History, TV, Online Streaming & Films2 Comments

As a kid I loved Sunday Morning Cartoons. One that particular cartoon that sticks in my mind is Dungeons and Dragons. I recently found it for £9 Dungeons & Dragons at Amazon [DVD]. I love this annimated series from the 80’s. I have been watching a few episodes every Sunday. It is fantastic, just as magical and full of adventure as I remember.

I have been trying to remember other cartoons I used to watch, but can’t remember. So what other Sunday Morning Cartoons did you used to watch? Leave a comment.

It will hopefully help me remind me what I used to watch.

Is Russell Howard gay?

By Thinking32 Comments

I seem to get a lot of search results from people typing in: is Russell Howard gay?

I don’t think he is, I am sure when I went seeing him (see Russell Howard, Campness & Heating) he said he had a girlfriend. But I did find this funny clip of him talking about teaching about gay relationships to children:

Very funny. He makes a good point though, kids don’t care about who you have relationships with. Why is it so important when we become adults?
