Dissertation Module Results

By Education5 Comments

I recently recieved my Dissertation Module results. I got: 60%, which isn’t bad considering all that’s been going on my life recently (see My Darling Baby Brother & Grief).

I also asked about how they determine my overall level of degree. Out of the 6 modules they take the 5 with the highest marks and divide by 5. This means I am likely to get a 2:1. Makes me wish I’d worked hard in my first two modules, rather than just being happy to do the minimum required to pass. Never mind, a 2:1 isn’t a bad and leaves room to improve.

Take care,

Antony

The Contact Me Form

By Technology, Thinking2 Comments

On the Contact page there’s a form that allows people to send emails to me. It sends emails to an inbox that I only check occasionally. This inbox was specifically set up for the website and one that I change every few years. Sophisticated SPAM technology finds email addresses through these forms and bombards them with advertising, which is why emails from the site don’t go to my main inbox.

This is something I really regret today. I logged in and found an email from an old friend dated February stating that his mother had passed away and inviting me to the service and wake. He couldn’t find me on Facebook (not surprising with my privacy settings), so he’d used the Contact page. When I think back to his mother, oh she was an incredible woman! She was wise, always made me smile and laugh. I would have liked to go, pay my respects and say goodbye.

So it will never, ever, happen again. I’ve set up a forwarder to my other email account I check at least once a day. So you can expect if you use the Contact page, that I’ll actually recieve it and get back to you if you require a reply.

Sleep well,

Antony

A BIG Thank You

By The Web2 Comments

Just wanted to say a BIG thank you to my friend Sye who with his wonderful CSS coding skill has made my blog look less a collection-of-floating-boxes by putting it all together. He is fantastic and making it look better has inspired me to write some new blog posts. So keep an eye out over the next few weeks – you don’t know what you might miss!

Oh and I’ve updated the Photos page and added the Book List 2011 page.

Write soon,

Antony

Career Prospects

By Thinking2 Comments

With the government cutting back in the public sector, I’ve been forced to think about my career prospects. As a trained public sector it would mean a complete career change. Here’s some of the idea’s I’ve had so far:

1. Psychic – I can read tarot cards, runes, etc. But very few psychics work full time and to be honest I prefer to do it for close family and friends rather than anyone and everyone. Plus it can be exhausting.

2. Microsoft Technician – Mum recently upgraded her Internet Explorer and was unable to use the new version! I sent a screen shot with numbers on and some instructions over email. Ha ha and amazingly they made sense to her! Now I know geek-sheek is in, but I can’t really see myself sat in front of a computer all day, I like people too much.

3. Entertainer – Now most of my jokes wouldn’t be suitable for TV even after the watershed. Plus I can’t sing or dance, even if my life depended on it! So that’s pretty much out.

4. “A Gentleman of the Night” – Ha Ha I think people would pay me to put my clothes back on rather than take them off for some action.

Although I joke of course, the government cuts do have a real human cost: I may not have a job. But while my fate is not yet decided, for me, it’s just business as usual.

Write soon,

Antony
