Susan Boyle on Britain’s Got Talent

By Rants, TV, Online Streaming & FilmsNo Comments

I don’t really watch Britain’s Got Talent, but David does. And he told me of Susan Boyle and that I had to watch her performance on youtube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxPZh4AnWyk. So I did. I was amazed by what I saw.

Both the audiance and judges prejudged her based on her looks and a two questions from judges prior to her singing. I was amazed by her voice, as were the audiance and judges.

But then it struck me…when did we stop appreciating the talent of singer, more focused on the looks or life style of the singer?

I wish it could be like it used to be. When singers were appreciated for their talent. Perhaps Susan Boyle has started this shift, as she doesn’t look like a typical singer. Yet her talent is outstanding and it is expected she will win Britain’s Got Talent and go on to be a worldwide best seller (according to BBC News

What do you think?

By Amazon, Gay, Rants, The Web, TV, Online Streaming & FilmsNo Comments

Hi All,

What do you think of this?

Click here to display content from c.brightcove.com.

(from http://www.pinknews.co.uk/news/articles/2005-11985.html, 13th April 09).

I am not sure what to think to be honest. I think someone on the American verison of the site obiously needs some education around homophobia and how to catergorise items.

Just because a book has a gay author or has gay characters it does not mean that it is x-rated material.

And for god sake amazon, give out clear responses in relation to this!

Write randomly soon,

Antony

Charity begins at home?

By Music & Radio, RantsOne Comment

Radio 1 has done my head in this week! To the point were I have actually turned it off. I have felt bombarded in my own car!

Chris Moyles and some other celebs have been climbing Mount. Kilimanjaro for Comic relief and all I’ve heard all week is donate, donate, donate. Calls from the Dj’s inbetween each song, countless adds for it (I mean the BBC is suppose to be an add free service – that’s why we pay our TV licences).

Now there’s two things here:
1. Repeatly been asked to donate (that has triggered this rant)
2. Charity begins at home.

1st – I don’t mind being asked once, twice or even daily. But what seems like 100’s of times in a day? Come on.

2nd – To me charity begins at home. I am broke as are many of my family and friends due to the credit crunch and we are in debt. In fact some of my friend’s are struggling to eat well and also struggling to pay the bills to keep the roof over their heads. So if I had any free cash to give to charity – I would much rather give it to my family or friends to support them in this difficult time.

Is this right? Do you think Charity begins at home?

Take heed Radio 1 you will loose listeners repeatly bombarding us with charity appeals. And I for one will not be tunning in again until comic relief is over.

Rant Over,

Antony

Adobe Flash Error’s

By Rants, Technology, The WebNo Comments

Adobe who has an excellent reputation for making quality software has messed up. Everytime I try to load a page with any sort of flash on (this includes embedded You Tube Video’s) my Windows Internet Explorer crashes.

To be fair to Adobe I don’t know if it’s their issue or Mircosoft’s but they better get it fixed soon! As there are plenty of angry! people like me who can’t surf the web proper until they get it sorted.

Oh an incase Adobe or Mircosoft staff are reading the error is related to the file: Flash10a.ocx . Get it sorted!

Rant over,

Antony
