Candle Magic: The Basics

By PaganismOne Comment

Candle magic has grown in popularity in the Pagan community. This is because candle spells are simple, yet highly effective. There is a spell for every occasion or to deal with every problem in a person’s life.

Power is raised for a spell through visualisation, words of power and emotions. Tip: Emotions are the key to successful spells.

First visualise what you want to happen, be as detailed as you can. At the same time imagine in your heart how this would make you feel. Imagine both the thoughts and emotions as energy and imagine them mixing together through out your body. Hold the energy until it has built up, then say your words of power, say the spell, seeing and feeling the energy flow from you and into the candle through your mouth. Repeat this 9 or 12 times.

The energy is now stored in the candle. Once you have done this you can either:

  • Light the candle which will slowly release the energy into the universe OR
  • Anoint the candle with appropriate essential oils, prior to lighting. Not sure what essential oils to use? I would highly recommend you buy The Complete Book of Incense, Oils and Brews by Scott Cunningham.
  • Tip: You can also scratch symbols on the candle using a sharp knife. Do this before anointing the candle.

The colour of the candle should match your spell’s purpose. Here is a brief colour magic guide:

White – All purpose colour, can be used for any type of spell.

Black – bindings, banishings, separation, keeping things hidden from view, getting rid of bad habbits.

Blue – healing, clarity, anything to do with Water or emotions, calmness, protection (also purple for psychic protection) and peace.

Brown – stability, houses/homes.

Green – money, growth, fertility.

Purple – co-operation, psychic development, respect from others.

Orange – attraction, personal motivation, energy, feeling alive, business projects.

Pink – self-love, friendships, magic for children, romantic love (at a push),

Red – romantic love, sex, lust, passion, inner strength.

Yellow – happiness/joy, creativity and success.

The above are very basic instructions for how to cast a candle spell. There can be much more to it than that including but not limited to: casting a bubble of protection prior to casting the spell, other ways of raising or drawing energy from other sources, calling in deities or other spirits for help. The books below all explain more:

If you’re looking for small quick-burn candles I’d recommend these. Remember it isn’t the size of the candle that counts, but how much energy you put into it.

Help The Bees Flourish With Beebombs

By Friends & Family, Nature, PaganismNo Comments
beebombs-May-2019

Beebombs are pellets containing various seeds of wildflowers, clay and compost. The wildflowers are all ones that Bees love and that will help them survive and hopefully flourish.

My 33rd birthday was a big one on a pagan and magical front. Magically spells are said three times. In Numerology, 33 would equal 3+3 = 6. Six is The Nurturer, which couldn’t be closer to the values associated with paganism.

So for my birthday this year, I decided to buy something small for some family and friends that would help nature. Then I came across an Ad for Beebombs.

Beebombs are pellets containing various seeds of wildflowers, clay and compost. They are handmade in Dorset and all of the packaging is recyclable.

Since World War 2, the Bee population has dropped by 97%. We all remember being at school being taught about the food chain and the web of life. If the Bees die out, those animals that eat the Bees could die out, then the animals that eat them and so on.

The Beebombs don’t need to be planted, they are simply be scattered. Just know that the wildflowers contained require a lot of sunlight, so don’t scatter anywhere where they will have a lot of competition for sunlight.

According to the makers, they are safe for pets. They do contain Poppy seeds, which are toxic to cats, but only in small quantities and not enough to cause harm to cats.

The wildflowers that will grow from the Beebombs are slow growers and it make take up to 2 years to fully grow. They are all wildflowers that that Bees love and that will help them survive and hopefully flourish.

I bought five Beebombs bags. One I scattered close to where I live. One I gave to mum and papa. One I gave to Simon. One I gave to Kay for her mum’s garden and one to Jayne. Everyone has loved them. They make great gifts, providing that the people you give them to aren’t scared of Bees and or butterflies.

I should point out that I haven’t been paid or compensated in anyway by the makers of Beebombs for this post. I just thought they were cool and wanted to share.

Take care,

Antony

A New Moon Spell for a New Job

By Creativity, PaganismNo Comments

For this spell you will need:

Steps
1. Before a new moon, scratch/mark the yellow candle with the initials of the job title for the job you want.

2. Charge the candle with energy of your own.

See the golden energy moved down from your head, into your heart and then down your arm and into the candle in your hand. Imagine being offered the job and feel the happiness and excitement when it happens. Send the image of you being offered the job from your head into the candle. Feel the happiness and excitement in your heart and send that down and into the candle. Repeat this visualisation least 12 times. This should take you several minutes.

3. Anoint the candle with oil to seal in the energy.

4. On the first day of the new moon, say the following as you light the candle and repeat 9 times:

Make the (job title) job mine,
Let me be great at the job and my talents shine.

Let me interview well, myself I sell,
Let me be the best there is!

Let the money come in,
And may I enjoy it with a grin.

As the Moon does grow,
Let the magic in this spell flow,
Release it into the cosmos slow and steady,
So that everything falls in to place and is ready.

As I will it, so it is.

5. Burn the candle over several days. Each time you relight the candle, repeat the words above.

Note: This spell is to help you get the job on an energy/magical level. You still need to do the physical hard work of applying, preparing for interview and giving a good interview.

If you’ve done the hard work, the spell and don’t get offered the job, remember that there maybe a bigger reason why not. One that you can’t see now, but will do in the future.
