Losing My Nando’s Virginity & Daniel Sloss Live in Liverpool

By Friends & Family, Gigs & Shows, Happiness & JoyNo Comments

On Thursday, a good friend and I went to see Daniel Sloss live in Liverpool. We arrived early and my friend took my Nando’s virginity.

I have to say that although Nando’s didn’t live up to the hype, it filled a hole. From Nando’s we walked to Liverpool Guild of Students’ the venue for Sloss’ show.

Taking photos were not allowed, so you’ll have to settle for this pre-performance stage photo.

If you’ve not seen any of Sloss’ stand-up before, I highly recommended that you check out his two shows on Netflix: Dark & Jigsaw. Both are hilariously funny, cheeky and finish with a poignant point.

Sloss’ latest live show was even better than the Netflix shows, probably because Sloss wasn’t being filmed and was more at ease with the audience.

Indeed Sloss owned the stage throughout the performance that was well over an hour long. In the show he covered his love of children, toxic masculinity and the things nobody taught him about vaginas and sanitary products.

My friend and I laughed, more than I can’t remember either of us laughing for quite some time. It was definitely a good shout, buying these tickets for my friend’s birthday.

Sloss ended the show with an experience he shares about his friend being raped by another one of his friends. The part was done sensitively and with some appropriate humor. Sloss did recount statistics one too many times, sounding like a public service announcement. I think this was Sloss’ way of demonstrating that he had really looked into the issue.

Overall my friend and I thoroughly enjoyed the show and would definitely see Sloss again. We would probably just opt for a different venue due to the difficulty at times in seeing Sloss and the lack of comfort provided by the chairs. Perhaps when Sloss is planning his next show he should consider the Apollo in Manchester.

Last Weekend: The Fantastic, Fabulous & Funny La Cage Aux Folles and The Hilarious Despicable Me 3

La Cage Aux Folles Poster at Liverpool Empire Theatre

On Saturday of the last weekend Simon, Chrys and I went to the matinee of La Cage Aux Folles at Liverpool Empire Theatre.

We got to Liverpool early, had lunch and a look around the shops. The weather was warm and sunny.

La Cage Aux Folles was fantastic, fabulous and funny. The cast were brilliant in their roles, the costumes glittered and gleamed, the dancing was skilled and singing spot on. In-between musical numbers various members of the cast engaged the audience with a good amount of camp comedy.

La Cage Aux Folles was so good, I would definitely and happily see it again. If you’ve never seen La Cage Aux Folles, you should go and see it. You’d love it.

Despicable Me 3 – Hilarious and laugh-out-loud.

On Sunday Steve and I went to see Despicable Me 3. Here is what it’s about:

The team who brought you Despicable Me and the biggest animated hits of 2013 and 2015, Despicable Me 2 and Minions, returns to continue the adventures of Gru, Lucy, their adorable daughters—Margo, Edith and Agnes—and the Minions. Despicable Me 3, directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda, co-directed by Eric Guillon, and written by Cinco Paul & Ken Daurio, will be released in cinemas in summer 2017.

Joining Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig in Despicable Me 3 is Emmy, Tony and Grammy Award winner Trey Parker, co-creator of Comedy Central’s global phenomenon South Park and the Broadway smash The Book of Mormon. Parker voices the role of villain Balthazar Bratt, a former child star who’s grown up to become obsessed with the character he played in the ‘80s, and proves to be Gru’s most formidable nemesis to date.

Steve and I enjoyed the film. Gru’s twin brother, Dru, was endearing. Obsessed with the 80s Balthazar Bratt brought back memories of my childhood. The film has loads of hilarious scenes, the audience laughed-out-loud several times at our showing. And of course it has the loveable minions, which no Despicable Me film would be complete without.

Last Weekend: The Man Date & The Family BBQ

By Friends & Family, Happiness & JoyNo Comments

Last weekend was great. I had my semiregular Man Date with a straight friend on Saturday. We dined in style at a posh place, caught up and then went back to his for more talk and brews.

I went to my mum’s for a family BBQ on Sunday with glorious summer weather. It was fantastic for the extended family to get together and have time to talk and connect.

This has been my mantra for the last few weeks, it’s how I feel and what I’ve told to anyone that will listen:

World Museum Liverpool

Me Making Friends with Dinosaur 🙂

Recently a good friend and I visited the World Museum in Liverpool. Among the exhibits were: Space, Dinosaurs, Asia, the Americas, an Aquarium and Bug House.

The Ancient Egypt exhibit was closed which was most unfortunate, as in any museum, it is always one of my favourites. A lot of the interactive displays didn’t work. But neither of these put a dampener on what was a fantastic day.

Here are some photos from the Museum:

Something for the locals…from my hometown.

My good friend and I had a great time. He was superb company and we had all sorts of conversations. The conversations varied from ones of intelligence, ones that were humorous and ones that had depth. I valued all of these conversations, didn’t really want the day to end and hope to do it again soon.

He promised show me a trick with an empty Pringles tube and a CD, something which I will be holding him to.

Blog soon,

Antony
